Curtain Measuring Guide

Curtain measuring — quick guide

Sizes are width × drop. For a pair, the listed width is for each curtain laid flat.

1. Measure the width

Measure your fitted pole or track. Exclude decorative ends. Use this measurement rather than the width of the window glass.

2. Allow for folds

For a curtain pair, choose each curtain’s flat width roughly equal to your pole width for double fullness. For example, a 160cm pole suits two 168cm-wide curtains.

Measure the complete fitted curtain pole between the decorative finials.

3. Measure the drop

Eyelet: measure from the top of the pole to your chosen hem position. Check the range’s allowance for fabric above the pole.

Pencil pleat: start at the hook eye below the pole ring; for tracks, follow the track’s hook-position instructions.

For a practical floor-length finish, leave about 1cm clear of the floor.

Eyelet drop starts at the pole, with allowance for the fabric heading; pencil pleat measures from the ring hook eye.

4. Check what’s in the pack

Curtain pairs: two panels. Door curtains and voiles: one panel per pack.

For a single door curtain, allow extra width for folds without dividing by two. For voiles, aim for 1.5–2× the coverage width in total fabric and check how many panels you need.
