Heading Information

Pencil Pleat Made to Measure Curtains

Pencil pleat is the standard heading for curtains and valances. A 3" tape is used with 3 hook positions to suit all types of track and pole. When ordering pencil pleat curtains measure your pole from one finial (decorative end) to the other. For tracks, measure your track from one end to the other and add on any overlaps or returns if applicable. Once you have these measurements our staff will then advise you on the best width to suit your track or pole.

Tab Top Made to Measure Curtains

Tab Top is a contemporary heading suitable only for poles. Each tab measures approximately 3" wide by 4" deep. The overall drop of the curtain includes the length of the tab. When measuring for tab tops, measure your pole from one finial to the other. Tab top headings usually require fewer widths of fabric than other headings, generally making them more economical to purchase.

Ring Top (Eyelet) Made to Measure Curtains

Ring top. or eyelet curtains as they are also known, is a contemporary, alternative for poles only. The rings are available in 40mm and 25mm sizes with a choice of 7 colours. There are 8 rings per width. When ordering ring top headings, please give us your pole width, measuring your pole from one finial to the other and we will recommend the best width to suit your pole. For the drop simply measure from the top of the pole, where the ring would sit, to your required length.

3" and 6" Pinch Pleat Made to Measure Curtains

Pinch pleat is a decorative heading for curtains and valances, suitable for all types of track and pole. Pinch pleats are more gathered than other headings and have permanent sewn in pleats, giving them a more luxurious, tailored look. We use buckram pinch pleat and hooks are supplied with each order. When measuring for poles, measure from one finial to the other. For tracks, measure the track from one end to the other, adding on any overlaps or returns if applicable. Pinch pleats often require more widths of fabric for a given track/pole width, so often work out more expensive than other headings. Please note, as pinch pleat is a fixed, sewn in heading, it is imperative that you quote an accurate track or pole width. This will allow us to gather your curtains to the correct width.

Made to Measure Roman Blinds

All the fabrics in our current range are available to order as roman blinds. All blinds come fully lined, and if required, can be ordered with blackout linings or a super sateen lining. Blinds are supplied with a cord lock roman blind track as standard. Sidewinder controls can be ordered at an additional cost. When measuring the width of your roman blind to fit in a recess, measure the width of the recess in 3 different positions. Do the same again for the drop. For measuring a blind to sit on the outside of the window, simply measure where you would like the blind to fit and supply us with the exact measurement.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE TO MADE TO MEASURE CURTAINS

Made to measure curtains can be a great way to add a personalised touch to your home decor. Here is a guide to help you order and install your own made to measure curtains:

  1. Measure your windows: Measure the width and height of your windows carefully. Make sure to take into account any fixtures, such as curtain rods, that you will be using to hang the curtains.

  2. Choose your fabric: There are a wide variety of fabrics to choose from, including cotton, linen, silk, and velvet. Consider the style and colour scheme of your room when making your selection.

  3. Select a heading style: The heading is the top portion of the curtain where the fabric is gathered and attached to the curtain rod. Common heading styles include pinch pleat, eyelet, and tab top.

  4. Decide on the lining: A lining can help protect your curtains from sun damage, add insulation, and provide privacy. Some common lining options include blackout, thermal, and standard cotton.

  5. Order your curtains: Many online retailers offer made to measure curtains, which can be customised to your specific measurements and preferences. Be sure to double-check your measurements and confirm all details before placing your order.

  6. Install your curtains: Follow the manufacturer's instructions for hanging your curtains. Be sure to take your time and use a level to ensure that your curtains are straight and even.

With these steps, you should be able to order and install your own made to measure curtains with confidence.

FAQ

Q I only want half a pair (i.e 1 curtain for a door) Is this possible?

A Yes. We would simply charge half the price of a pair

Q I have a very small window. Can I have a small pair made?

A Yes. We can make a pair of curtains 0.5 widths per curtain. This would be charged the same as half a pair. Unfortunately we cannot cut widths down i.e 0.75 of a width.

Q Can I have a longer drop than 274cm or wider than 3 widths?

A We can go to 3 metres drop and 5 widths wide. This does depend on the fabric and heading treatment however.

Q Should I order my product lined?

A Curtains and valances are available both lined and unlined. We recommend that products are lined to improve the drape and appearance as well as giving them added protection. Lined products are lined using a poly-cotton lining as standard. Super sateen and blackout linings are available at an extra cost.

Q Everything I am ordering is for the same room. Will it pattern match?

A Curtains will pattern match within the pair free of charge. Curtains, valances and roman blinds with the same drop will also pattern match free of charge. Due to pattern usage, and a more complicated manufacturing process, should you require curtains, valances, or roman blinds with different drops to pattern match, then a 10% surcharge will be applied per pair, valance, roman blind. This must be requested when ordering.
